Description

Sorry for the lack of post's lately, been super busy at work, but alas here's a recent pic. I did this as a birthday present for my mom, she wanted something to put in her office to remind her of me so I thought this was the perfect subject because you all know how much of a dragon nut I am. Done on bristol vellum with colored pencil. I know the scan didn't come out that great but in real life the colors are smooth and what not. Enjoy!

I like the piece- but I have a few thoughts on how to make the piece a little stronger, concept wise.

The thought of a boy riding a dragon is quite dear to me - and yet the boy seems to be flying while the dragon is just hovering, which is creating a contrast of conflicting movement.

To create a more uniform form of movement a suggestion would to have the dragons arms extended as the boys arms. Giving both characters a feel that they are both enjoying the flight. It will also create motion on the part of the dragon that matches the boys movement.

I think you are on the right track, you just need to match the emotion to both of these characters to make it stronger. Make the dragon fly as fast as the boy is showing he should be.

Keep up the good work
